It’s been a tough year for him – the lowest point was probably during the Champions League when former NZ pace-great Simon Doull accused him on air of running away from the heat of the moment when his knee gave way midway through an over. So fine way to return to the team.

To echo Afridi’s post matchwords – a great game even though you almost felt sorry for the distraught Salman Butt right at the end.
