England v Sri Lanka, Champions Trophy, 4th ODI, Johannesburg, Live Cricket Streaming Links

It is England versus Sri Lanka in Group B match. England faces a tough opponent who seemed to have picked the cricket form just at the right time. SL batting opening looks devastating with centurion Dilshan and old horse but explosive Jayasuriya. Then we have calmness and serenity of Sangakkara alongside Jayawardena. What more can you ask for in the batting line up. The name of rest batsmen even don’t have to be mentioned. Their bowling lineup, well what more to say after seeing their performance against SA. Mendis was on fire and still seems to be a mystery to most of the batsmen. It seems like Mendis always encrypts his bowling styles with a special private key that he only knows about. Therefore without that private key how the hell batsmen are going to decrypt his bowling and therefore not loose their wicket or at least score runs from him.

As if that not enough, they have Murali to contend with or loose wicket against plus a balanced fast bowling unit. Well England, you are in for a tough tough day again.

For England, it seems they have something wrong with that team composition. It simply is not a winning team. Where are the power hitter. My suggestion is either put Collingwood or Owais Shah. They can’t afford both  these test style players. How can you play Broad in no. 7? You can’t. You can’t expect him to be an all rounder. He has some runs, but that promise is fine for no.8 not 7.

South Africa takes on New Zealand in the 3rd match of this Champions Trophy. The host has already lost one match against SL so will look to justify their status as pre tournament favourite by winning this match convincingly and proving that the first match was just some aberration and was the result of rustiness of not being involved in international match for a long time.

New Zealand after some poor performance in Sri Lanka will like to take advantage of the pressure hanging on SA.  New Zealand are always giant killers and step up their performance whenever people write them off. This can be one of those days.

Pakistan v West Indies, ICC Champions Trophy, 2nd ODI, Johannesburg, Live Cricket Streaming Links

The Champions trophy went to a rollicking start yesterday where Srilankans beat the hosts South Africans comprehensively. SA were depicted as tournament favourites along side with India and Australia. But after yesterdays showing that depiction has to be changed.

Today, the most inconsistent and the most interesting team to watch in the world cricket is playing. Yes, you guessed it right. Its Pakistan match today. They are playing with West Indies. Well may be I should say West Indies A or even West Indies B.

Pakistan have to be the favourite to win this match. Younis is out due to injury and the captaincy will be handled by Afridi. With Malik finding the form in the practice match, Pakistan have a very very solid batting line up. There is Imran Nazir’s and Akmal’s fire-power in start then serenity of Mohammed Yousuf in the middle, then we have firepower of Misbah and boom boom Afridi.

Interesting how West Indies will go about this match.

This is the first match in champions trophy and the hosts take upon Srilanka. South Africa are tournament favourites alongside with Australia (with their thumping win over Englishmen). I would not say India as favourite because they are not consistent enough and consider the warm up matches. May be they still depend on Tendulkar.

However, this match between SA and SL and this tournament overall might help to redefine the 50 overs format. It seems people have lost interst in it recently. Yes, I agree, it does have some dull periods where you just might to change channel to see some dance numbers or may be just get yourself a coffee break.

Favourite is SA by all means. They are no. 1 ODI side currently, which they deserved to be, keeping aside the argument of ICC awards nomination. SL can beat however any team on any day. They have that strength. Imagine Sangakarra, Jayasuriya and Jayawardena now with Dilshan for you batting line up and Mendis, Murali to bowl those wily spins. You might get tempted to put your money on them.
